Goals
he city of Madison is nationally recognized as one of the best places to do business, work, live and play, coupled with a commitment to become a sustainable city. Archipelago Village mirrors these facets of its City and has outlined the following goals.
- Contribute to the growth and energy of State Street, Capitol
Square, downtown Madison, the city and the region
With one and a half to two million square feet in shopping, dining, hospitality and work venues, Archipelago Village will employ 40,000 to 50,000 people and bring thousands to Madison, as well as the region, to experience its eclectic State Street and vibrant Capitol Square. - Become a mixed-use, national destination
The Archipelago vision is defined by an unprecedented diversity of experiences. An open courtyard will feature a sparkling, Sienne-like river, topped by a footbridge. Natural daylight and air will stream through the buildings, creating a convenient, unique live, work and play environment. Located in what leading, national publications site as one of the Nation’s best cities to do business, raise families and play, Archipelago Village will be the premiere destination in the Midwest. - Begin the trend of ethos urbanism
A principal goal of Archipelago’s design is to maximize density on a four and a half acre site located in the city of Madison’s eastern corridor. Eighty five acres of floor space has been brilliantly designed in a French renaissance/neoclassical style collection of buildings – each with its own personality and contributing to the overall, greater ethos. The classical, everlasting spirit creates a culture. The Village integrates New Urbanism; walk-able, compact, vibrant, mixed use communities – with its purposefully defined culture and spirit, combining ethos with new urbanism. - Build sustainable
Sustainability in its many forms is the primary philosophy of the development and contributes to the culture defined by Archipelago Village. The creation of the Village will result in the redevelopment of a brownfield site, minimize urban sprawl through its multitude of uses and provide alternate forms of transportation (including bicycle, trolley/streetcar, metro and regional bus and car). The structures will incorporate a myriad of high performance building elements and energy efficiencies with a goal to reach the Gold level of LEED™ certification
